Bumbershoot Production Schedule

A while back I was invited to participate in a color by number art pavilion at Bumbershoot.  It went months without being final, and even now though lined up, I have yet to see contracts or cash (both on the way now I hear.)  I should have made my production schedule weeks ago and not resisted working until my pay day was iron clad.  I think maybe I don't have time to do even one other project let alone two... unless i give up my freebie  Friday's. The question now is what do I desire more; to show new work? or maintain some semblance of my sanity?

oooh, i should add an "estimated duration" and an "actual duration column" for future reference.

Half a 100 Nellie Army

Nellie in progress

And now for a string of somewhat related process pictures.

First off is a calendar I made for the project. It went through so many revisions it is pretty much a scribbly mess with little to no relationship to reality. As one can see I gave up even trying to plan for the final week.

Trying latex. Foolishly I believed it would be easier than silicone. Easier is relative. I think it is easier in the long run for something to be faster and more effective. After blowing the whole first week on this mold I mangled it beyond its usefulness. It smells bad too.
Once I am back on the TAP Silicone wagon, things start to go faster. (see blue mold). Unfortunately, i have rushed through everything. Obsessed with quantity, I shot through the first tests where I should have been concerned with quality.

As a result the number is growing, but it is a grueling process filled with the pitfalls of poor planning.
I stopped doing many process photos, but I successfully resisted the urge to use the blog to vent and complain. A small victory this post deters from.

This last photo, i just think is cute. (loading first batch back from Cornish)

I made a lot of mistakes in a lot of places in this project. As a  result not only did i fail to reach my goal number, i burnt myself out on it. (I am pretty sure John caught me telling the busts how much i hated them, seriously i don't normally talk to my art.) I now have around 50 half finished nellie's. We've had some time apart, and i think i can get back to resolving the cleanup. Now that I am supposed to be working on something else, scraping them can be my latest procrastination hobby.

has had the same headache for a week straight

Sorry I haven’t posted lately. I’ve been having unbearable muscle pain in my neck and shoulder (thanks in part to a 13 month old who refuses to walk) combined with horrible tension headaches.
I self diagnosed and am also self-medicating……Hubby took the girls for lunch today so I could take a brief nap and also went to CVS to pick up Excedrin Tension, which works but only for 4-6 hours. I’m also taking a prescription I got a couple months back when I had some x-rays done for the neck/shoulder pain. I’m a little concerned though because after further research it turns out that the pill is an anti-depressant and also used to help with bed wetting…..WTF?!?!

Here’s to better days…….

Emphemeral Art: Venus of Landolakes

Fat for the fatty
At this point my hands are quiet well moisturized.
Ut- oh, she's getting melty.

There she is, in all her lardous glory...smells so good.
So sad the video kind of bombed after all the work carving-
but maybe it just needs real editing software...

C. A really, really, big box
D. None of the above.

To be continued...

Graphic sample

Of course only after I completed the demo, I decided that it is not only unnecessary to parody the hurricane simulators imagery, but that it is in fact taking away from the concept rather than adding to it. Shame, it is purdy.

Reconstructed Found Object

Test run, creating mad'libs from declassified, but heavily redacted CIA documents.

To do: continue to browse for moderately redacted documents, research php coding, variable forms and data processing scripts/apps for dream weaver, consider how to maintain character of original document.
RYAN!
